Stine Aas is a furniture designer based in Bergen. She holds a MA from Bergen Academy of Art and Design and started her own studio after graduating in 2015. Her work ranges from furniture, lighting, home accessories and textile design for Norwegian and international brands such as Edits (CA), Bebo (SE), Heymat (NO) and Northern (NO).

Oaki was inspired by the simplicity and artistry that characterises traditional Japanese wood craftsmanship. Each leg rises from the floor to the full height of the chair, cradling the backrest between all four. The rear legs are angled backwards from the seat, meeting the floor behind the chair rather than underneath it. The position of the legs makes the chair come alive as they appear to step backwards.
