Stine Aas is a furniture designer based in Bergen. She holds a MA from Bergen Academy of Art and Design and started her own studio in 2015. Her work ranges from furniture, lighting, home accessories and textile design for Norwegian and international brands such as Herman Miller (US), Edits (CA), Bebo (SE) and Northern (NO).

Alter lamps are made from a flat sheet of aluminium that has been hammered against a shape to create a three dimensional shade. This creates a shifting appearance in the aluminium, introducing a human touch to the design. By altering the material by hand, something unpredictable is added to the constant starting point, making each lamp unique. Unlike in the mechanised aluminium industry that was the starting point for this project, Alter celebrates the imperfect.
The wall version is made using a single shade, whereas the pendant consists of a connected pair. Shown at the exhibition Norwegian Presence 2019.
